As important as notifications serve in trying to keep you notified of works, events and schedules , most notably they serve as a distraction.
Whether itโs the popup of a red number, a vibration or a sound notification, these alerts are designed to get your attention. They are practically almost impossible to ignore. If you are working on something important, your focus is going to drift and your effectiveness will immediately decline.
Going through your memory lane, you can recall how long it takes you to recover from some of these distraction and go back to work.
Notifications cans also be addictive. Social Media apps for example, design themselves to intentionally get you acquainted and addicted to their platforms. They get you through notifications and the giant of them is Facebook with the primary goal of getting every user addicted to their platform.

This is the obvious solution that none of us actually want to consider in other not to miss any important notification when we need it most.
So how can we curtail this fear while still improving control over our notification bombardment?
